\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I’m an amateur genealogist, in building my family tree and working to better understand the stories of my ancestors, I’ve found complex and extensive connections to DC going back to the 1860\/70s.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n In my genealogical journey, I’ve discovered as with my family, my ancestor’s lives generation after generation lives have been negatively impacted by\u00a0some form of YIMBY-ism.\u00a0 YIMBY-ism\u00a0built around Black family displacement\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0I-know-it all paternalistic hubris of the political and bureaucratic elite.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Nadeau’s YIMBY policies rooted in the royal “my” and paternalism is not new to the battle for equity.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The attached\u00a0November 21, 1854 article from the Evening Star features Ezekiel Cunningham my first cousin 3-times removed and DC SW shopkeeper describing 1950s version of YIMBY-ism as a “Passel of Joy and Sorrow”.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Not only are there many parallels between\u00a0YIMBY-ism of the 1950s and 2020s including\u00a0the rationalizations, but\u00a0some of the same Black families which were marginalized\u00a0and displaced from SW to make room for out of town developers are\u00a0some of the same families being marginalized by Nadeau’s Ward 1 policies for similar interests.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Source file: https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/bddn5wnw<\/a><\/p>\n So we can debate Nadeau’s NW YIMBY-ism and Trump, there is little doubt about Ward 1’s YIMBY-ism roots in S.W..\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n William<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n —–Original Message—– YIMBY-ism for the most part is nonsensical rebranding of government backed Gentrification which is a\u00a0 rehash of Urban Renewal\/Negro Removal.\u00a0 In particular it’s designed to con mainly younger people who are seeking progressive solutions to community ills into supporting big capital via high rents and consumption.
